Data Center Engineer; Robert Half has a 90 contract to full time opportunity with a fortune 1,000 company that is relocating colocation/Data Center operations to Las Vegas. Open to W2 and Corp to Corp. Not able to sponsor employees upon full time hire. Pay $36.00 to $42.00 an hour on contract depending on experience and certifications.
All candidates will be required to undergo background check and drug test.
Our client is looking for a Data Center Engineer to help move, de-commission and/or install cabinets, Compellent San, Windows and SQL Servers, Cisco routers, Cisco switches, Cisco Firewalls, cable, fiber, power strips rails or any other equipment or hardware necessary to bring the colocation/data center online. Design and implementation of redundant infrastructure for power, cooling, cabling, etc. Administers and maintains Data Center equipment inventory and tools, utilizing the inventory process and managing and auditing the inventory to ensure accuracy. Provide hardware specification and purchasing advice to regional and local offices for new server and storage equipment. Participate in regular conference calls/meetings with the IT Team and provide updates or concerns raised. Provide input into current and new Data Center polices and standards as it relates to hardware, software and security. Provide coordination between global purchasing department and local offices for server hardware projects. Will be working with a ticketing system to track, document all work to include moves, adds or changes to equipment, systems or network configurations. Will be responsible for maintaining integrity of asset tracking and inventory. Will be required to meet operation and safety policy standards. Will need to participate in and on call rotation with other Data Center Engineers or Techs.

Data Center Engineer Requirements:
Data Center Professional, BICSI, CDCD or similar certification showing training in data center industry best practice including power, space and cooling
5+ years of IT experience in a large enterprise, multi-location data center
Proven ability in data center management.
Strong working knowledge of UNIX, Windows, and Network environments
Ability to configure basic IS systems as hands-on local technician for remote support teams and vendors
Support and maintain the global Active Directory infrastructure, including security, naming standards, and synchronization issues
Knowledgeable in Data center best practices (i.e. basic fault tolerance, cable routing, calculating power usage)
Proficient in design and support in the following products:
Microsoft Windows Server operating systems
Dell PowerEdge and HP ProLiant servers
Dell Compellent SAN/NAS
EMC Avamar and Data Domain backup systems
VMWare 5.5 or newer technology
Automation and scripting technologies
Networking and Security: TCP, Firewalls, Routers, Switches (Cisco and Cisco Nexus)
Software: Experience in installing and maintaining enterprise applications in a LAN WAN environment
Must be able to lift and move 50+ lbs repetitively
Must be able to sit, stand, squat, kneel repetitively or for long periods of time
Must be able to communicate in writing or verbally, clearly in English
Must have reliable transportation to the Data Center site
When on call must be able to respond to OnCall requests within 45 Minutes.
Previous work experience with asset management system and ticketing systems
Must be able to quickly adapt to fluctuations in work load or changing priorities
